He said “Blessed are the meek… for they will inherit the kingdom.”

To be meek isn’t to be weak.
It’s to be humbly willing to seek.
To admit we don’t know it all.
To stay curious like a child.
To hold space for the mystery of God.

We’re done pretending certainty equals truth.
Real faith is being willing to say: I don’t know… but I’m still seeking.

My son wrapped up his 2.5 years of chemo treatment this past week and on last weeks episode, I spoke about how disorienting the return to “normal” feels. Because there is no return to normal. The person I was before this all started is dead. I just never had a funeral.

I’m sharing this because I know many of you have faced your own battles. Maybe it’s not helping your child through cancer, but maybe you’ve experienced something that’s changed you so deeply that “going back to normal” isn’t really an option. I mentioned in last week’s podcast that we don’t go back. We go forward. We carry the wisdom, the scars, and the love that got us all here. We transform. We transcend. And perhaps we aren’t always happy, but maybe that’s the point. Maybe it’s to be free.

Rachael and I are reading “The Girl Who Baptized Herself” in preparation for @megganwatterson joining Spirit Outspoken and this quote connected with me so deeply. My son survived and the old me died and becoming someone I haven’t met before feels both terrifying and exhilarating. But I’m trusting the process because I will survive. I already feel the power rising from within. The kind of power that can only be discovered by a true death like mine.

Did you know? Mary Magdalene wasn’t a prostitute. She was Jesus’ most loyal follower, the first to see Him risen, the one who preached the resurrection before the apostles, and a key supporter who funded His ministry. She was even called the apostle to the apostles.

So… where did the prostitute rumor come from? In 591 AD, Pope Gregory the Great gave a sermon that wrongly combined Mary Magdalene with two other unnamed women in the Gospels, one who had been healed of demons, and another who anointed Jesus’ feet. This error became church teaching and stuck for nearly 1,400 years, turning one of Christianity’s most important women into a cautionary tale instead of a leader.

It wasn’t until 1969 that the Catholic Church quietly reversed the claim. But by then, the damage was done.

And that’s not all. In the early centuries, Mary’s voice was so influential that the Gospel of Mary, a text where she shares private teachings from Jesus, was actively suppressed. Many copies were destroyed as the church sought to silence ideas that challenged its growing hierarchy. What we have today comes from fragments found in the late 1800s and early 1900s, missing entire pages… intentionally erased from history.

Maybe it’s time we tell the whole story. ✨

Even creation knows:

“Ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you…” (Job 12:7) - all life rests in the hands of the Creator. Nature doesn’t question, it trusts.

The Shunammite woman lived this truth. When her son died, she didn’t panic or despair outwardly. She said:

“It is well.” (2 Kings 4:26)

It wasn’t denial, it was faith in motion. Like the birds who trust the skies and the earth that yields in season, she placed her situation in God’s hands, fully believing in the possibility of restoration.

Her words were a declaration not of her circumstances, but of her confidence in God’s power over life itself, the same power that holds every creature, every breath, every soul.

Even the birds know. All is well.

3 Things Spirituality Gave Us That Religion Never Could (and why Spirit Outspoken exists…)

Permission to Question. Religion tells us doubt is dangerous. Spirituality showed us that asking honest questions is actually how we grow (and even reaffirm and strengthen) our faith. A lot of the dogma you see today didn’t even exist in the early days of Christianity.

Connection to the body and energy. Religion tells us to turn away from the very tools that brought us closer to God like astrology, energy healing and even other religious faiths.
Spirituality reminded us that God speaks through our energy, our emotions, and even through people that practice faith differently than us.

A personal and unfiltered experience of God. We don’t want someone else’s version of God anymore. We want to learn about the silenced voices, the divine feminine, and the more mystical version of Jesus that the earliest Christians first spoke about. We want to experience God for ourselves and lead our lives in love, not fear.

Rachael and I follow Jesus - but something’s been weighing on me recently. Many say “Jesus is the only way to God”…But that doesn’t sit well when you think about how diverse our cultures and beliefs are.

He never demanded blind allegiance.He invited people to follow him by being love.
