Breaking the Cycle: Healing Ourselves, Our Kids, and Our Lineage Through Epigenetics and Faith

We recently got a fresh new studio and a new intro, but even more than that, we've had a major spiritual upgrade. We're clearer than ever on why we’re here: to be the bridge.

Not the bridge between "right" and "wrong." The bridge between what we were taught and what we’re discovering. Between Jesus and energy. Scripture and science. Love and logic. We’re not walking away from faith—we’re walking deeper into it.

This week’s episode touched a nerve for so many of us. We talked about epigenetics, and how the science of gene expression lines up with spiritual truths many of us have felt for years. What we carry emotionally, spiritually, and energetically can be passed down. Not just in how we raise our kids, but in our genes.

We shared a study about Holocaust survivors and their children, who inherited markers for elevated stress—even though they hadn’t lived through the trauma themselves. It’s proof: trauma can be inherited. But here's the good news: healing can be inherited too.

Rachael shared a story about a healer she worked with who has deep Native American roots. She told her something that gave me chills: when we heal, we don’t just heal ourselves or our kids. We heal our ancestors. There’s no such thing as time in the spiritual realm—so when one woman takes off her mask, she takes it off for generations.

That visual shook me. Woman after woman in her family (and likely yours and mine), each wearing a mask. And then it came to Rachael. The one who removed it.

This is the work. This is the cycle-breaking.

And it doesn’t start with perfection. It starts with awareness. I had to face the reality that while I’m a loving mom, I wasn’t always emotionally available. I was afraid to show fear or sadness around my kids, especially during Roman’s treatment. I thought if I showed any weakness, it meant I didn't have faith. But I’ve learned that strength and vulnerability can live side-by-side. That holding space for pain doesn't mean we stop believing in miracles. In fact, it's the foundation of real healing and what feels like the entire point of this human experience of ours.

We talked about our upbringings—how many of us learned to suppress feelings, to keep it light, to be strong. But that survival strategy became our wound. And if we don't address it, our kids inherit it, either through environment or through epigenetic changes.

So what now? Here’s the question we left you with: What do you want your children to feel in your home?

Start there. Let that be your compass.

And don’t be surprised if, in uncovering what you want for your children, you discover what your inner child always needed too.

Healing isn’t just for us. It ripples backward and forward. Through bloodlines. Through behaviors. Through DNA.

We’re not just called to be parents. We’re called to be restorers.

Rememberers. Cycle breakers.

And the best news? It’s never too late. Our genes are always changing, always turning off and on. By starting now, you can change everything that ever was and everything that will ever be. Put that in your pipe.

See you next week for a deep dive into what Jesus actually taught about women—and why reclaiming the feminine voice in faith is long overdue.
